2-Methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolin-7-ol is used in the synthesis of Lamitidine-analogs derivatives of N-(3-Hydroxyphenyl)guanidine and 5- and 7-Hydroxytetrahydroisoquinolone which displays anti-histaminic-H2 activity. Also, it is an intermediate used in the synthesis of 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-4-(1-hydroxycyclohexyl)-2-methyl-7-isoquinolinol (T293623), which is a useful synthetic compound.
